About Cory: I started running back in high school, but it wasn’t until after I graduated college that I really caught the running bug. Since moving to Virginia I have really been embraced by the running community in the DMV area. It has brought many great friends into my life, introduced me to some amazing running groups, and allowed me to participate in some unique running events. Running has also introduced me to the Ragnar Relay community where I have been an Ambassador for the running series for the past few years.
Favorite Race Experience: Has to be my first full marathon - the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon. It was my first attempt at running at a full marathon and it really took its toll on me. It was physically and mentally demanding but not only did I finish it, I then had to propose to my then girlfriend, now wife shortly after I crossed the finish line.
Favorite Race Medal: This is hard to answer. Medals are earned, so each hold a special place for me. Probably one of my favorite (and most unique) was the 2018 medal for the Harper's Ferry Half. It was made by a local potter in the WV area and looked so cool and different than your standard metal orb. Honorable mentions include The Niagara Falls International Marathon, my first Ragnar Appalachian Trail (it was not TSA approved), and the 2018 Colonial 200 (my first ultra relay).
Unaccomplished Race Goals: Complete my first Ultra Marathon and break the 4 hour mark for a full marathon.
