Once upon a time running was a punishment, an awful punishment. Then one day back in 2005 Meg moved to sunny San Diego and was both in need of friends and inspired by the beautiful weather. A running club was the best solution to both of those situations. After joining a running club, she was peer pressured into training for a half marathon (Carlsbad Half 2006) and shortly after again followed the crowed to a full marathon (Rock n Roll San Diego 2006). Everyone was doing it!! Unfortunately, life, work, and travel tampered further progress on the running front. Meg continued to run and do small races on occasion without real purpose. It was when she moved to Alexandria in 2014, she felt the need for a running club again. Thankfully the Kingstowne Striders was close by and friendly group of runners, so she joined in summer of 2014. The support of the club motivated Meg to once again train and run more races, fun races such as Ragnar, Cherry Blossom, Army 10 miler, and little races with themes and mud and other such silliness. The thrill for running was renewed through the club. Currently, Meg is training to run the Disney Half Marathon in February 2019. This is the farthest distance since she embarked on her running journey and it is due to the support of the club. 😊
