Find Your Happy Pace
Congratulations to Valerie for her run at the New Hope Marathon in Hamilton, Ontario!!
We had Striders show up in many ways for the 44th Marine Corps Marathon. We had a group brave the rain for Adopt-A-Mile cleanup, Ron and his family did bag check, and Stephen and Jamie ran in the crazy weather to take down 26.2!
We're getting ready for our annual Fill the Shoes 5K by handing out flyers notifying those along the race course!
Fair Winds is hands down one of our favorite places to run from. The only bad part is that no matter which route you take, it's almost always going to involve lots and lots of hills. But it's good training and the beer afterwards always tastes amazing.
Did we mention we also love donuts and bagels? We run from Dunkin Donuts in Manchester lakes occasionally on Saturdays so we can partake.
This was our first Tuesday trying out some new routes from Fiona's Irish Pub! Good run and it was nice to grab a beer/dinner afterwards.
Emily and Anna ran the 2019 National Women's Half Marathon in DC on May 5. It rained THE ENTIRE TIME, but that didn't stop the race from being incredible!
The GW Parkway Classic put on by Pacers Running is an absolutely favorite race for the Kingstowne Striders. Perfect weather along the Potomac River from Mt. Vernon to Old Town. Literally couldn't be any better! I forgot to snap a pic before a few people left, though.
Cliff, Erin, and Cory, went abroad for a scenic tour of Madrid, Spain for the Rock n Roll Half Marathon!
Stephen, Valerie, and Bill ran the Feed the 5000 5K on April 20! Medals for all three in this race! :)
This was a good turnout considering the weather! It rained for about 30 minutes at first, but then cleared up to be absolutely beautiful running weather. This run served as a reminder of why safety and awareness is so important when runnning, though. Christina nearly got hit by a car when she was in a crosswalk because of a careless driver not paying attention. Good thing Christina was, though, and she was able to sidestep out of their way. Run smart, friends!
This is probably the first time we've seen Vince back out at our Thursday run from Panera in AGES. Weather is warming up, though, so that helps. :)
Kingstowne Striders was happy to represent at Cherry Blossom this year with a group of runners AND volunteers. We had way more runners than pictured, but traffic delays caused some people to miss our meet up. Our awesome volunteers handed out finisher medals!
Our incredible Ragnar Warrior, Cory, planned a course preview for the all-new Ragnar Sunset DC in National Habor! It was a little drizzly, but we had a good time. Striders currently has two teams registered for the September event, but we're looking to add a third!
The Kingstowne Striders celebrated their 10th Birthday this January! In honor of our origins, we ran the first 3-mile course our founders created for us. Winter running can be tough, but it is nice to run in celebration with friends.
This was the first truly cold run of the year and the wind... sucked. Stephen decided we were all going to run 5 miles, though. Mission accomplished. Still not sure I can feel my face the next morning, though. Happy winter running, friends!
As runners, we all know we need to train harder and do more than just complete the miles. To help with that, we have started hill workouts on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month! Come join us as we trudge up Telegraph Hill by Ft. Belvoir over and over... sounds fun, right? hah!
Not all of us can be early morning runners. Even still, some of us need motivation like beer to get out there. A bunch of us met at Port City Brewing Company in Alexandria, VA to run along Holmes Run trail. A lot of us are training for Spring half marathons (or full marathons!) so this was a perfect opportunity to get some miles in.
Kingstowne Striders 10th Annual New Years Relay at the Lake is in the books! It was a wonderful turnout, but unseasonably warm for Northern Virginia... 60 degrees! Nuts.
