Valerie Philadelphia Marathon

About Valerie: Valerie began running in 2013 when she received a flyer in the mail for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. As a fresh college graduate, she was ready to start something new, so she signed up and raised $1,600 to support blood cancer research as she trained for the 2013 Baltimore Half Marathon. Since then, she has run many more half marathons and two full marathons. When she's not running she enjoys hanging out with her dog Baxter, playing piano (if time allows...), and continuing her work in non-profit management, specifically in fundraising.

Favorite Race Experience: Completing my second marathon and hitting a time of 3:47:33. I never thought I could be that fast, but I trained hard and it paid off. Not only that, but the race was in Hamilton, ON, Canada, and I took my dog across the border with me. It was really exciting to do a solo road trip (with the pup, of course) all for this one race and accomplish something so positive.

Favorite Race Medal: 2019 Hamilton Road2Hope Marathon. That favorite race experience earned that incredible, maple leaf-shaped, Canadian gold medal.

Unaccomplished Race Goal: I never thought I'd imagine this as a goal, but after my Hamilton race experience, I would like to break 3:30 in the marathon and qualify for Boston. It's not going to happen immediately, but I think it's attainable with hard work.
