Kingstowne Striders Past Events
2016 has been another busy year and we are busy re-capping it for the website!
So far: Great way to RUNg in 2016!
Kingstowne Striders' 7th Annual New Year Relays at the Lake!
12:00 NOON on Friday, January 1
Shake off those New Year's Eve cobwebs! Join us for the Kingstowne Striders' 7th Annual New Year Relays at the Lake! Start the year off right with a few loops around the Kingstowne Lake - the loop is approximately .7 mile. We will split into relay teams (runners and walkers) with the goal being for everyone to finish at the same time. Walkers and strollers welcome!
We'll warm up for one or two laps around the lake and then divide up into teams of 2 or 3, then its off to the races, each team will run 3 laps, relay style.
There is plenty of parking along Lake Village Drive, do not park in the Condo parking lot. Remember we start and end near the gazebo on the Condo Side (Grange Lane) of the lake, NOT the one along Kingstowne Village Parkway.
It's a fantastic way to start out the New Year on the right foot! (Yes pun intended). No better way to run (RUNg) in the New Year!
2016 membership will be available day-of, so come one, come all, bring a friend(s), and join the Kingstowne Striders running group this year!

Celebrating out 7th birthday run!
We held not one but TWO movie nights: “Run Free: The True Story of Caballo Blanco” in February and the movie "TRI" about Triathlon released later in the spring.
We also celebrated our SECOND year of running from the now "Best Local Brewery" in the Washington City Paper Best of DC Reader's Poll - Fair Winds Brewing Company.
We started the 2016 Strides n Hops season early with a St. Patrick's Day Torch Thursday (wearing green!)
The month of May also saw a Striders wedding and a Striders birth!
We started off the summer featuring President Amelia as our new track coach! We also featured a series of successful Strides 'n Hops runs from Fair Winds!
In August we held post-run watch parties for Team USA in the 2016 Rio Olympics! The times for both the men's and women's full marathon was right after our Sunday long run!
We also held a DC Monuments Night Run in late August, partly as a Ragnar training run but also as a send-off for Sarah before she left us for North Carolina :(
